Pumpkin festival is held in Austria

Pumpkin
Austria created a special pumpkin festival

On September 30, 2011 in the Austrian federal land Upper Austria (Oberösterreich), which is located on the north-west of the country, will be held a pumpkin festival. On this day in Linz, the administrative capital of Oberösterreich, will be held numerous boisterous festivities.

From the early morning on the town’s main square Hauptplatz, which was created in 1269 and is the largest medieval square in Austria, will be selected the "Pumpkin mayor". He and his assistants dressed in orange pumpkin suits will lead numerous festive events. These are pumpkin fairs, where you can not only buy a pumpkin of almost any variety, but also get interesting craftworks from this berry.

Visitors of the festival can play "pumpkin skittles" and take part in various funny competitions. And, of course, at the pumpkin fest everyone will be able to taste many dishes from this product. Guests will be offered soups, pies, salads, strudels, puddings and even "Pumpkin Coffee ", and adult visitors will be able to try sweet schnapps made from pumpkin. Cooking experts believe that such a variety of pumpkin dishes is possible due to the neutral taste. So, pumpkin cooked in different ways can be turned into any dish of the dinner table: from appetizers to desserts.

At the pumpkin fair will also be presented a large number of pumpkin seed oil varieties, which the Austrians call "green gold". It has a unique flavor, slightly nutty taste, and is a great addition to salads, soups, sauces, rice dishes, noodles and home pastries. Adding some pumpkin oil dramatically alters the taste of the familiar dishes. In cosmetology pumpkin oil is in high demand, as it is the basis for the production of such cosmetics as lip balm, cream and soap.
