Holiday calendar of Berlin in autumn is full of different fairs, festivals, exhibitions, concerts and other cultural events. Throughout the year in the capital of Germany are held countless celebrations of different level of popularity and subjects. It is world-famous Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), Carnival of Cultures, which takes place in early June, and October festival of light. And it coincides with the fact that there are only eight public holidays in Germany. But there is one date, which, though not a holiday in the truest sense of the word, gives a lot of fun both to the Berliners and visitors.

In the latest October night from Saturday to Sunday (in 2010 these are 30 and 31 October) in Berlin until midnight will operate all the major shops. This date is called "The Long Night of shopping". It is necessary to explain that most of the shops in Berlin are open from Monday to Friday from 9 or 10 am to 6 or 6.30 pm. Many of them work on Thursdays until 8.30 pm. On Saturdays from 9 or 10 am to 2 pm. Therefore, it is clear that such an increase in working hours in the shop causes stirs and rush of buyers, moreover, that most major retail stores participating in the rally prepared special offers and entertainment programs for their customers. The greatest number of visitors on that night will receive the main indoor shopping center of Berlin - Europa Center, located on Tauentzienstrasse, on the same street where is KaDeWe (Supermarket of the West) supermarket located, which is the largest in Europe. Only breads is presented by more than 500 sorts, and there 1800 sorts of cheeses. Women on this night will be greeted in the Kempinski Plaza - a place where are located the most exclusive boutiques of the city, which will also provide its customers for substantial discounts.

To extend the good mood from the bargains on the "long night of shopping" will also be opened cinemas, bars, cafes, restaurants, and for the visitors will be arranged special tours of the city.
