Palma is convenient for arrivals and city visits, but a rural yard may still require a transfer. The Tramuntana offers mountain scenery and changing gradients; the island interior can provide quieter countryside, while the south-east combines coastal scenery with longer journeys between resorts and yards. Ask whether a ride starts at the farm, needs transport to a trailhead or uses public roads.

A coastal photograph does not demonstrate beach access. Confirm the exact route, meeting time, required experience and restrictions for the travel date. Beginners should ask for an introductory lesson, calm horses and a short guided route. More experienced riders can compare pace, terrain, group size and tack. Children need age limits, supervision, helmets and an alternative for hot weather. Riders bringing their own horse need arrangements for transport, stabling, forage, turnout and health documents.

Plan sun protection, water, long trousers and sturdy footwear, and check the provider’s helmet rules. Early or late rides may be more practical, but the yard decides the safe timetable. Wind, storms, slippery tracks or extreme heat may require a shorter route, arena lesson or stable activity.

Compare airport transfer, hire-car need, parking and the distance from the holiday home to the meeting point. Resort accommodation may suit non-riders but involve longer daily transfers.
