Holiday villas can offer space, privacy and flexible self-catering, but layout, access and facilities vary. Read the practical details carefully and compare the whole stay rather than relying on the word “villa”.

Check the layout
Confirm bedrooms, bathrooms, shared areas, kitchen facilities, laundry, cooling, internet, parking, storage and stairs. Check whether bedrooms and bathrooms are inside the main property or in a separate annexe, and whether the layout suits everyone travelling.
Review outdoor facilities
Ask about pool type, safety arrangements, shade, outdoor seating and any shared areas. Check whether the pool is private or shared, whether heating is available, and which equipment is included.
Compare the location
Rural and town locations offer different advantages. Compare the need for a car, travel time to beaches or attractions, access roads, shops, restaurants and medical services. Check the route and parking before arrival.
Calculate the full cost
Include cleaning, utilities, tax, deposits, heating, cooling and equipment charges. Read house rules, arrival arrangements and cancellation terms, and confirm what happens if a facility is unavailable.
