On March 25, 2011 in northern Italy, Turin, will start CioccolaTò 2011 chocolate fair, which is called by the experts the largest in the world. This year's opening of the exhibition coincided with the celebration in Turin the 150-anniversary of the unification of Italy. Therefore, the organizers of the event precede the main exhibition by additional opening ceremony scheduled simultaneously with the start of the celebrations on March 17.

The main events of the CioccolaTò 2011 exhibition will take place on Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Here will be located offices of the leading confectioneries in Italy, where you will be able to taste chocolate from more than 6,000 manufacturers. On the Piazza Vittorio Veneto will be also held seminars and competitions dedicated to the chocolate.

It is worth noting that Turin as a venue for the show of the world's largest chocolate makers, or as they are now called "chocolatier", was not chosen by chance. Turin has been considered as the chocolate capital of Italy for almost 400 years. In 1559, Duke Emmanuel Philibert brought to his ancestral castle in Piedmont the first seeds of cacao, which then spread throughout Italy.

In addition, Turin is famous throughout Italy and abroad thanks to the "Gianduiotto" chocolate sort. This year the Italian producers of chocolate prepared unique souvenirs for the exhibition. From Gianduiotto chocolate was produced flash cards.

Gianduiotto is not only the name of chocolate. So is the name of the carnival character, who is a native of Piedmont. In honor of the carnival hero at CioccolaTò 2011 on 2 April will be held a special Gianduiotto Day.

The history at CioccolaTò 2011 will be presented at the Museo Accorsi Ometto. There will be organized a special exposition about the history of chocolate, which has long been considered as a drink of kings and nobles.

One of the main exhibits of this exhibition promises to be a giant chocolate model of Italy - 13 meters in length and weighing over 14 tons. It will be placed on the same Piazza Vittorio Veneto.
