Dębno: Lake Lipowo, Trails and Town History
Accommodation in Dębno
Dębno offers a variety of ideas for days out: Lake Lipowo lies within the town limits and is surrounded by a town park. There are also hiking trails through and around the town, a cycling route to Kostrzyn nad Odrą and historic buildings. You can choose between time by the water, outdoor activity and discovering the town’s history on your trip—and then decide which holiday apartment in Dębno suits your planned stay.
Lake and Town Park
Lake Lipowo has a beach and a water sports equipment rental service. A wake park is also open during the summer season. The municipal bathing area offers water sports equipment and a wakeboard lift. These facilities make the lake a practical destination for anyone looking to include water activities in their stay. If you would prefer a quieter break, the lake is nestled in a town park. The combination of lake and park gives Dębno a distinctive green character.
Hiking Trails with Different Destinations
The three hiking trails differ mainly in where they lead. The red “Wokół Dębna” trail circles the town and takes in attractive places in the surrounding area. The blue “Historii i zabytków” trail runs through Dębno and includes the town’s most interesting sites. If you are more interested in the surrounding area, the yellow “Nad rzeką Kosą” trail leads north from Dębno to Barnówko. You can choose from a loop around the town, a trail through it, or a route connecting it with another place.
There is also a specific cycling option: Blue Velo Stage VII runs from Dębno to Kostrzyn nad Odrą. It is 30 km long and mostly follows local roads with light traffic. Take the full route distance into account if you include this stage in your holiday plans. Another option is the “Kapliczka Św. Huberta” route, a short loop in the Dzicze area near Dębno.
Architectural History and Visitor Information
Individual buildings also contribute to Dębno’s historic character. The tenement at 4 Armii Krajowej Street was built in 1891–1892 as the residence of printer Julius Neumann. The Church of Sts Peter and Paul is one of the relatively few monumental religious buildings dating from the mid-19th century in the West Pomerania region. These two buildings represent different aspects of the town’s history: a residence with a specifically named former occupant and a church of particular significance in the regional context.
Dębno’s tourist information office is located in the public library at 32 Mickiewicz Street. Guidebooks, plans and tourist maps are sold there. This can be a useful stop if you would like to prepare for your explorations with printed information materials.
