Nature

A four-kilometre, moderately difficult circular hike begins in the village. It crosses a glacially shaped cultural landscape: from the moraine ridge into the Lippingau tunnel valley, past a biotope pond and through beech forest and stream ravines. The nature and cultural heritage trail leads through the Lippingau tunnel valley, past the Schönungsteich biotope and through beech forest and the Sterup stream ravines. Information boards along the route explain plants, nature, geology and historically significant buildings of cultural importance.

Culture

St. Laurentius Church dates from the 13th century and was initially a branch chapel of St. Mary’s Church in Esgrus. Its west tower was replaced in 1887–1888 by a 52-metre-high brick tower. The interior contains a late Gothic winged altarpiece dating from around 1500, a late Gothic side altar from the 16th century and a Riffelbild by Hans Breckenfeld from 1751.
