Culture and History
The Kadin Bridge in Nevestino was built in 1470. It is designated as a cultural monument of national importance for its architectural and structural heritage, continues to connect the two sides of the settlement and is used for car traffic. Near the Kadin Bridge there is a small park with rest areas and a fishing pier. The cultural calendar also includes the annual Struma Sings folklore gathering, which has been included in the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture’s national calendar since 2008.
River and Landscape
Nevestino is situated on both banks of the Struma and has two mineral water springs. The Sveta Yana Waterfall near Smolichano has a drop of 12 metres. Nearly 60 percent of the relevant areas in the Nevestino forest district are included in the Natura 2000 ecological network.
