White Wine Comes from Taps

The history of the annual vine festival Sagra dell' Uva goes back to the year of 1571 when the admiral Marc Antonio Colonna wan the sea fight of Lepanto. Since that time the festival takes place in the wonderful Italian town of Marino. In accordance with the tradition on this day the white wine comes from the local fountain. But this time everything went the wrong way - and the white wine came from the taps of the citizens’ homes.

According to the tradition on this day many people gather on the town square to watch the white wine coming from the fountain. But that day people noticed that something went wrong and instead of wine just the ordinary water was in full swing. The trouble was that the local engineers had just mixed up the pipes and connected the pipes from the wine cellar to the town system of water supply.

The citizens of Marino who stayed at home at that moment were the lucky ones, because the white wine was coming from their taps. They had enough time to fill their bathtubs with absolutely free of charge wine before the mistake was rectified.
