If you smoke and want to spend your vacation in Turkey, you should take a small but very important fact into account. Since May it is forbidden to smoke in public places in Turkey. Those, who will break this law, will surely pay a fine of 62 Turkish liras. And if you throw the cigarette butt away in the street, you will pay a fine of 23 Turkish liras.
Since May, 2008 it is forbidden to smoke in Turkey in all the public places and public means of transport, including taxis, trains and even boats. It is also forbidden to smoke in the courtyards as well as in the buildings of all the cultural, educational or social establishments. In the hotels the special smoke places also should appear.
This is the way they started to fight against smoking in Turkey. And maybe it is the right decision in some way as if someone smokes, why the others should suffer from this, too?
