Dominican Republic

Dominical Republic is a sovereign state situated in the Caribbean. It occupies the Eastern part of the island of Hispaniola and it borders on Haiti, the county that occupies the Western part of the island.

Dominican Republic is a very interesting goal for tourists from all over the world. The resort and hotel complexes are especially popular with tourists here. However, the island offers many more interesting attractions in addition to wonderful beaches.

The Landscape of Dominican Republic is created by several mountain chains. The central mountain range “Cordillera Central” that is higher even than 3,000 meters attracts tourists and hikers from all over the world. In the vicinity of Jarabacoa there are several wonderful waterfalls that only complete the marvelous forest landscape. Excursions to the highest point of the island – Pico Duarte are also organized.

The capital of the country of Santo Domingo occupies almost the whole south coast of the country. The old town was completely built in the Spanish colonial style and nowadays it is the part of the World Heritage. Among the major attractions you will find “Alcazar de Colon”, the former palace of the Spanish viceroy and the cathedral. There is an interesting place not far from the city that can be referred to the end of the 20th century – it is the village Altos de Chavon. It is the part of the vast complex of the Casa del Campo which is one of the largest luxury resorts worldwide.

Along the Northern and Eastern coast of the Dominican Republic one can find numerous offers of tourist accommodation in holiday houses or hotels.

Not far from the port city of Puerto Plata the picturesque peninsula Samana is located. Here you will find worth boat tours to the island of Cayo Levantado and walks to the waterfall El Limon. There are also several good diving spots near the peninsula.
