This fair in Berlin usually begins in November. In 2011 it started on November 21 and lasts until December 26. Christmas Charlottenburg is one of the most magical places in Berlin. During the fair the castle and the adjacent park are lighted by thousands of lamps, lights and garlands, which are its main decoration. Fair and history are closely linked in Charlottenburg. Many Christmas and historical exhibitions are held on the castle territory. At the Christmas markets in Charlottenburg can be found many unique superior souvenirs. One of the best Christmas souvenirs in Berlin are wooden gifts, art castings, ceramics, handmade things and German gastronomy.
Location: Charlottenburg, Altes Schloss Spandauer Damm 10-22, subway station Richard-Wagner-Platz (U7 line).
Gendarmenmarkt square with majestic German Cathedral is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Berlin. The same reputation has the Christmas market, which is organized here from November until December 31. The atmosphere of the Middle Ages at Gendarmenmarkt is created not only artisans offering their amazing works, but also fire eaters, acrobats, clowns and jugglers. Their performances are held on the Gendarmenmarkt along with concerts of jazz ensembles and gospel performers. Among the special gifts that can be found here is unique flax embroidery, as well as stone souvenirs.
Subway: Franzosische Strasse (U6 line)Christmas Fair on the Potsdamer Platz is popular due to the large number of attractions. Of course, there are also many shops here. Here come thousands of Berliners and city guests to walk through the trade pavilions and study sales in the giant Sony Centre. But attractions are still at the first place. Among them are huge ice rink and the largest in Europe mobile toboggan track with 70 meters in length and 12 meters in height.
It is considered that the fair in the historic district of Spandau is the largest in Berlin. It hosts about 250 pavilions during the working days and 400 at the weekend. This fair is mostly designed for young people, as one of the main elements of the local holiday program is a Friday rock concert, which begins at 18.00. Among the unusual events is medieval plague procession, which takes place every Wednesday on the Reformationsplatz. But it's a goth attraction. And for good children is organized a fair near the church of St. Nicholas and Christmas garden of St. Nicholas.
