UK train tickets can be bought abroad
Train, United Kingdom

UK domestic train tickets can now be bought not only in the UK, but also outside the Albion. The opportunity to sell tickets outside the UK the railway management of the country on behalf of the Association of Railway Operators (ATOC) provided for three companies. Thus, organizing a holiday in the UK on your own is now easier.

License for selling tickets to the UK domestic trains has received Thetrainline company. Thetrainline henceforth is able to use their facilities for ticket sales to corporate customers through its partners, among which there are both tour operators and online services. In particular, sale of tickets to British trains will carry out such services as GetThere, KDS, Traveldoo and Cytric. To date, Thetrainline is one of the two largest systems of ticket online booking in the UK.

ATOC, which manages sales of tickets, provided the right to sell tickets abroad for another two companies: RailGo and RailEurope, a subsidiary of the French national rail operator SNCF.

Currently, buying of tickets for domestic trains across Europe remains a big problem. Through the introduction of the new conditions of booking ATOC intends to simplify the use of the Great Britain railways for foreign tourists.

Companies that have received licenses will sell tickets in a test mode for 2-3 years. If the experiment will be successful ATOC may expand the number of licensors.
Before Thetrainline, RailGo and RailEurope the only company which offered the opportunity to purchase tickets for domestic UK trains abroad was the Canadian company ACP Rail International, which promoted its services under the brand BritRail. According to representatives of ATOC, which was published by businesstravelnews.com, the Canadian operator will retain the right to sell tickets.
