Jazz Festival in Montreux

From 2 to 17 July 2010 one of the most prestigious and famous summer resorts in the world - Montreux in Switzerland – for the 44th time will host an international Montreux Jazz Festival. This festival is perhaps the most significant summer jazz event in Europe. It always gathers on its sites the most famous artists of the world, and except for jazz musicians at the Montreux Jazz Festival participate singers of other musical styles from Miles Davis and Ray Charles to David Bowie and «Massive Attack». At one time Montreux Festival served as a launching pad for many pop stars and is now part of young performers at Montreux Jazz Festival is an excellent opportunity to show talent to the world of music. The main concert hall of the festival is "Auditorium Stravinsky", which, according to the musicians, has excellent acoustics and in spite of the modernist architecture (a complex of glass and concrete), fits perfectly the surrounding pastoral.
The history of the Montreux Jazz Festival began in 1967, when the musical activist Claude Nobs persuaded to participate the well-known jazz singer Robert Flack in concert in a little local cafe. Then the first concert was attended by about 400 people, and now the total number of guests of the festival is more than 200 thousand annually. By the way, Claude Nobs at certain time introduced a special currency, which is in circulation once a year and only in Montreux. The unit of the currency is one "jazz."
Located on a small hill between the mountain range and beautiful lake resort town of Montreux is called the pearl of the Swiss Riviera. Due to the unique location Montreux has indescribably mild climate. Therefore, at any time of the year tourists of the resort can enjoy the magnificence of nature. Here could acclimatize many varieties of exotic plants: fig, almond, banana and tulip trees, magnolias and palms, Mexican spruce and birch, bamboo and roses. You can rarely meet in Europe such a diversity of flora. Tourists who visited Montreux, should visit the Chillon Castle (XIII century) - one of the most famous castles in Europe.

Britain ask tourists to stay
VisitEngland national tourism agency decided to start the large-scale advertising campaign to promote holidays in the UK. Talking about the virtues of vacations on the beautiful austere British Isles the authors hoped to attract by this advertising concept at least some part of the multi-million flow of British tourists from hot resorts in Spain, Italy and Greece.
