It is hard to imagine that a few years ago holidays in Croatia were not widely popular among the Russian tourists. But today, those hotels of Croatia, which after the Balkan conflict were in ruins today are among the finest hotels in the world and are in demand among the tourists from Russia. Well-developed tourist infrastructure of Croatia allows its visitors to choose the type of holiday for their taste: it ranges from a quiet stay in a rented house or a villa on the Adriatic coast to participating in various festivals and mass gatherings. One of these events will be held in the night from 29 to 30 January 2010. This is the Night of Museums in Croatia, a cultural event, which will take place in the country for the sixth time. At this time the Night of Museums in Croatia will unite more than 50 museums in Zagreb, Dalmatia, Istria and other regions. The event is organized by the Croatian museum community and aims at attracting more attention of tourists and residents of Croatia to the cultural heritage of the country. Particular attention during the Night of Museums will be given to the youth. Many museums and exhibition complexes will be organized special programs and exhibitions designed for young visitors. Traditionally, the entrance to museums and exhibitions participating in the action for all visitors will be free.
For example, in the capital of Croatia, Zagreb, during the Night of Museums will be possible to visit the Mimar Museum, which is rightfully considered to be one of the best galleries in Europe. It presents the private collection of Ante Mimar consisting of 3750 pieces of Spanish, Italian and Danish artists as well as the collection of works from glass and sculptures. History lovers will appreciate the new composition in the Archaeological Museum, which is situated in Zadar. The museum has several thematic exhibition halls, where are kept the exhibits of different eras (more than 100 thousand): prehistoric, ancient, medieval and underwater archaeological. Also in Zadar you can visit the Ship Museum and the exhibition of church facilities.
For the first time "the Night of Museums" was held in May 1999 in France under the title "Spring of Museums", as on the May 18 all over the world is celebrated the Day of Museums. And in 2001 this cultural action was supported by 39 countries in Europe.
