In Monaco will be held a circus festival

In one of the smallest countries in the world Monaco on January 14 will begin the most prestigious circus festival the Festival international du cirque de Monte-Carlo. Within 10 days in the arena of world-renowned Chapiteau de Fontvieille tens of thousands of spectators will watch the best show performances of the world’s best circus troupes. Every year here come about 150 circus artists from more than twenty countries around the world.

The performances of circus actors are of completely different genres. They range from clowning and training of animals to aerial tightrope walking and torch juggling. Festival international du cirque de Monte-Carlo is held under the personal patronage of Prince Albert of Monaco and Princess Stephanie, who heads the organizing committee of the festival. The most authoritative judges will evaluate the performances of the circus bands to award the best one with the main prize - the Golden Clown. By the way, in this year's festival jury for the first time in the last 10 years were invited such well-known Russian trainers as Edgar and Askold Zapashny. The performances are evaluated on a 20-point scale, 10 for the artistic skills and 10 for its technical aspects. This year Circus Festival will be held for the 34th time.

In the world are also organized other prestigious circus events, for example, the International Festival of the “Circus of Tomorrow” in Paris or the International Circus Festival in China, the homeland of this ancient art. However, the competition in Monte Carlo is as honourable for the circus actors as for athlete to represent his country at the Olympics. “Gold, silver and bronze clowns” are similar to “Oscar” in the cinematography. Its winners are always welcomed on the arenas of the most famous circuses in the world.

Monte Carlo, where is located the Chapiteau de Fontvieille, is a fashionable district of Monaco, the smallest constitutional monarchy in the world located in the territory of two square kilometers. Monte Carlo is known worldwide for its beaches, casinos (here is located the oldest casino in Europe), and the fact that here begins and ends the Rally of “Monte Carlo”.
